Held

This is Yvonne Lyon with her band. Held in the moment.
She launched her new album - titled Held - at The Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock last night; playing to a packed house.
The album morphed into life from Yvonne's Masters in Songwriting and Performance coursework in which she looked at the way in which music connects and helps people make sense of loss.
She worked with ten different people to write ten new songs based around their experience.
You can read about it (and hear Yvonne sing) in this piece by Paul English in The Daily Record.
Angela McManus also wrote about in The Herald on Friday.
As Yvonne joked, an album about death - it's not an easy concept. She wondered aloud at one point if she should've supplied little packets of Kleenex to the audience.
I helped Yvonne with spreading the word about this beautifully nuanced collection of songs.
She generously thanked me at the end, joking that it was not an easy sell. Always up for a challenge, me. Especially if I believe in the work.
It was a lovely night. Full of warmth. Yvonne's rich voice carried it along on a ripple of humanity.
