Aging Gracefully

Bellingham was first settled about 1850, so it's not as easy to find charmingly derelict local buildings, as Freespiral, who is hosting Derelict Sunday, does so beautifully in Ireland.

I took a walk in Fairhaven this morning, seeking dereliction, and was drawn to these aging oak leaf hydrangea blossoms. Despite the ever-increasing fragility of their dry, brown petals, they still have enough strength to have survived several sustained periods of heavy wind and rain recently. I find them inspiring, and hope that I can hang on through my own challenges as well as they do!

(P.S. Phil's stunning blip for today shouldn't be missed!)
