The Face of Clutter

This face personifies my problem:
On torn paper,
the remains of a pencilled portrait
is signed HM.
No date. No sitter's name.
No HMs on my family tree.

Once it was framed
in an oval mount,
the paper darkened
from exposure to light,
and splodged with foxing.

Can't class art as clutter.
The whole thing fits
in a file pocket --
won't take much space.

Maybe I should frame it,
warts and all?
It worked for Cromwell.

This youth might be
an ancestor.

He won't go.
