A Sort of Pilgrimage

It wasn't sunny but ever so warm again today. The thermometer showed 16°C in the morning and we knew we had to put on our walking shoes and take advantage of what seems to be a prolonged summer.

We took the city train to Herrsching, about a 50 minute ride, where we started our little hike. We walked through the lovely little valley of the Kien, more a rivulet than a river, and at the end up some steep stairs to what is know as Bavaria's "Holy Mountain", where Andechs Abbey, a pilgrimage church and monastery, is located.

The Baroque church, the monastery's beer and the view - all worth the effort.
