Into the wind

Today was an early flight to Wellington for a meeting. I shared the plane with the Prime Minister, and (I think) a number of other parliamentarians. All travelling from Auckland to Wellington to start their week in the debating chamber. That is probably the least important of the work that they do, yet it gains the most attention from the news media.

The meeting went well. Afterwards, the walk to the hotel was marked by strong winds, at times nearly unbalancing pedestrians.

Later a walk along the waterfront towards the railway station, and I saw this couple walking together and managing the wind with the equanimity of Wellingtonians accustomed to such wind force. Taking her small smile as consent to be photographed, I chose to not interrupt them on the walk, presumably to catch a train home at the end of a day in the city.
