Christmas Is Coming!

Head's up...only 43 days until Christmas! This is Penelope, the potted poinsettia that I have had for about four years now. 
Sometimes potted poinsettia's have difficulty blooming in northern climates, so Penelope may decide to remain green throughout the Holidays, but in this photo she was just starting to show her true colors, ushering in the 'Season to be Merry' in Kissimmee, Florida on Nov. 10, 2013. 

For Christmas cheer the sepals sing
Red carols veined in holly green,
Potted plant, just do your thing,
And hide dark corners rarely seen.
 
In Sunday's colours primp and preen,
With hot-house glitz, be-ribboned bling,
And over manger, gently lean,
Poinsettia, just do your thing.
