choir, owls, football

Up at the crack of dawn today as I was escorting the Restart Children's Centre choir up to the local prep school to have a rehersal for an upcoming joint event. After the rehersal the children were treated to a wonderful breakfast which they seemed to thoroughly enjoy. We got back on the bus to return to the children's centre when the teacher announced that we were taking the children to visit the owl sanctuary in Naivasha instead. As you can imaging the children were very excited. They thoroughly enjoyed the trip, depsite the torential rain that soaked us whilst we were walking round. All of the children had the opportunity to hold the verreaux owl shown in the picture, they also got to see many other breeds of owls, a vulture and a crown eagle. The guide didn't tell the children about the crown eagle they have at the sanctuary that killed a 4 yr old child back in 1974. I'm sure they would have loved to hear such a gruesome tale!! This afternoon I went up to the local school playing field to watch our children have a kickabout with a football, it was lovely to see them all out of the children's centre relaxing and enjoying life. Then an hour spent at the children's centre before coming back to my lodgings for the evening. Another great day in Kenya. Finally got the opportunity to catch up on my blogs for the weeks. It hasn't been through lack of trying that I haven't posted, we have been having major problems with the internet out here due to the horrrendous storms we have been having all week.
