Crazy About Birds

Serendipity

Out for our usual walk down the usual dirt road this morning, toting my big camera, seeing basically nothing to bother taking a photo of. On the return, passing the farm pond for the second time, I point my camera at a dead tree that lies partly in the water and use the long lens as a telescope to see if there's anything to see on it (sometimes a Green Heron is sitting on it trying to look like a piece of tree). I see nothing, but then suddenly from the left side of the frame a Wood Duck glides into view! Well, hello there duck! It's miles away - can't get a really fine close-up, certainly - but between the beautifully colored duck, the reflection of the trees, and the duck's wake, it makes a blip for today.
