Twiglet

This is Twiglet, one of the Tawny Owls at Leeds Castle. It was far too windy for the falconry demo today so the team hosted a meet the birds experience instead.

I was delighted to see Twiglet who looked cuter and fluffier than ever. I met Coco the Asian Brown Wood Owl who is still just a baby at five months old but was already very confident with visitors and seemed to enjoy the attention.

The Falconry team invited me and my friends to meet some of the new birds back at the birds of prey centre and we had a giggle at five month old Travis - a Striated Caracara originating from the Falklands - who is a real character. He was making a right racket playing fetch with a toy and getting very excited indeed.

Walking in the grounds certainly blew the cobwebs away today with a biting cold wind, but it does wonders for the spirit to be out in the elements and reflect on the big wide world.
