Ullswater

My dad was very keen on hiking and climbing in the Lake District when he was younger - today we drove back along the edge of Ullswater and then over Kirkstone Pass and down into Windermere. A view from the car window is all he is able to manage now - I'm sure he longed to be out tramping the hills again.

Lunch in Kendal and then back south via the M6 - a bad choice as we were stuck for ages on the M61 as we set out to recross from west to east. I think the traffic hold-up added at least a further hour to our journey. From then on we seemed to run into ever possible hold-up on the road.

We're back home now feeling pretty tired. There's some kind of footie cum marbles game going on in the next room - sounds like they are enjoying themselves.
