Christmas is Up and Running

The Edinburgh Christmas lights may not be switched on until tomorrow, but the whole Yuletide razzmatazz was in full swing this morning as I did a spot of C shopping.

Dare I say, it did feel very Christmassy with the sun shining through a pleasantly cold Arctic air.The booths were open, the Ferris wheel churned slowly round, the carousel horses galloped gracefully in eternal circles and the skaters skated, all under a blue sky.

It is within my memory that back then most of Scotland didn't celebrate Christmas at all, far less begin preparing a month ahead. However, for Edinburgh, it is now big business with Christmas and Hogmanay filling the Council's coffers.
Certainly with the crowds already swarming en masse about the centre, it may yet be a bumper year.
