The Edge of the Wold

Morecambe Bay

After a wild, windy night there was the first frost on the ground this morning.  Wifie and our visitors went on a retail mission to Ulverston, leaving Gus and me to our own devices.  After we had brought in the Pelargoniums to save them from the next frost, in the afternoon we went for a walk over the Knott to Heathwaite, then round the headland as the sun was sinking into a big bank of cloud lying over the Irish Sea.  The Bay was remarkably quiet, just the occasional bubbling curlew.  Somewhere out in that vast expanse of mudflats, there are large numbers of waders and wildfowl.

There's an extra photo today, I wasn't sure whether to go with the portrait view of the Bay across to Humphrey Head with the blue sky and clouds reflecting in the sheets of water.  But in the event I opted for the landscape view of the vastness of the Bay, with its multiple layers and unusual colours reflected from the sky.

We are going out for a meal tonight,  so that should be a treat.  I shall catch up later.
