Pushing Out The Paper Boat

I went to Lesley Banks' Prints for Presents home show today.
Lesley paints beautifully and has been doing so for over 25 years. She trained at the Glasgow School of Art in the early 1980s when there were some amazing tutors mentoring young artists.
As this pre-Christmas weekend sale at her house she was selling mainly prints of her work. There were paintings for sale too.
Lesley's also produced a lovely Glasgow calendar consisting of images of her Glasgow paintings.
Look up Lesley and her work here.
I spied this wee Paper Boat award on her window ledge. Lesley won the George Wyllie-designed award in 1991 during the late-lamented Mayfest Festival, which saw Glasgow light up with arty happenings during springtime.
The awards were run by Scotland on Sunday newspaper and were given to people in various categories; from visual art to theatre to comedy and more.
Lesley won it for an exhibition of her work at The Compass Gallery. I blipped about the history of the Compass Gallery last week.
Had to get my friend, Paula, to hold it up to the light so I could see the wording. Then fiddle about with the trusty Snapseed app!
George and his Paper Boat float around my life in all sorts of ways...
