I Declare This Meeting Over

To Stirling for a meeting at the Stirling Smith Art Gallery & Museum where I met one of its most famous members of staff, Oswald.
Oswald and I have had some dealings on Twitter where he habitually hangs out as @Smithsupercat
He made an appearance towards the end of our meeting. It's clear he thought it had gone on way too long.
It was a real case of being behind the scenes at the museum because The Smith is shut on a Monday.
I was there on Guardians of Scotland Trust (GOST) business. The Trust was set up three years ago to mark the joint roles of William Wallace and Andrew de Moray at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297.
The battle was given the Holywood treatment 20 years ago when Mel Gibson directed (and played the starring role) in Braveheart.
Not only was Andrew de Moray written out of Holywood's version, the poor old wooden bridge which gave the battle its name was also painted out.
One of the reasons de Moray - the brain to Wallace's brawn - hasn't been given his due is the fact he died not long after the battle on 11th September from wounds he received while fighting.
Thousands of people visit Stirling Bridge every year. The current 'old brig' was built in the 16th century and replaced the narrow wooden structure which played a pivotal role in 1297.
Up until recently there wasn't much in the way of markers to show the significance of the site.
That's slowly changing. Earlier his year, interpretation lecterns were put in place at the site.
The next phase will see stone benches around the lecterns.
The icing on the cake will be a new public artwork. That's what today's meeting was about...
