Talk about a mouthful!

In their summer garb, these little goldfinches are bright yellow if they are males and a duller yellow if they are females. Now that we are transitioning to winter, they are all dressed in more subdued colors, and I can't tell the males from the females. I can tell hungry birds when I see them however, and this is a very hungry goldfinch. Fortunately for them, we have a good supply of bird seed and suet. Also enjoying the feeder today was a downy woodpecker, so he is today's extra picture.

Yesterday I ran out of time to post my blip, so I just backblipped one of the cutest birds I have seen in a long time. It's a house finch, and it is dressed in shades of red. You can take a look at it here
