Uh Oh!

Another local resident has discovered the suet feeder... and was making short work of its contents until my presence was noticed!

It's an Eastern Gray Squirrel, a non-native variety introduced in this state in 1925, which now are very common. I don't find it as attractive as the native Red Squirrel.

Any suggestions on how this intruder can be forestalled? 

And -- do take a few minutes to read at least the first few sentences and the last three in this article by Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat. What a difference four years has made...
