My More Traditional View

I was scampering back from the bakery and I didn't want to miss my bus, but I had planned exactly enough time to try a few shots of the market from the old Rathaus.

The Lily in the background is on the front of the new Rathaus and I'm not sure if it's always been there at Xmas.

Another long, non-stop day.  I was there in my capacity of dual language walking dictionary and technical support.  It's pretty tiring trying to think and speak in 2 languages all the time.  Plus we had some cracking German turns of phrase - there was a fight about the Kaiser's beard, at one point we were going to have swallow a toad and then some fish needed butter...

I heard all three expressions today for the first time.  Explanations:-

Das ist ein Streit um des Kaisers Bart means to split hairs
Schluck die Kröte (swallow the toad) means to accept a negative situation and to move on to hopefully resolve it
Butter bei die Fische geben means to cut to the chase. Indeed, to get to the essence of poodle.


Consequently, I'm fit for nothing except to act as a radiator for Munni.
