Walk in the woods

Today is windy but the sun is shining. N and T decided that the silage grass that was cut but not cleared from the new leys should be turned with the hay turner to dry. The ground is much harder so Tim was able to go ahead for most of the day. In the afternoon we went out to collect his dog from the tractor on our way for a walk and the grass looked more like hay than silage grass so I hope it is edible by the time it is fed to the animals! The contractors are returning tomorrow to finish their job.

Meanwhile N and I went for a walk in the wood near us out of the wind. It was magical with so many plants (including orchids and grass vetchling) and butterflies to surprise us. It really was another world. Many of the fir trees have been replaced with young hardwood trees so there is quite a lot of light which encourages plants - and deer.

Our favourite resting place outside the old gamekeeper's hut near the pond.
