Project Photo 1 - Reunion Dinner Preparations

The final project for my course is due this week. This is the first in a series five photos that were taken at the Botanical Gardens in Montreal. Each year in the fall, the Gardens installs a beautiful lantern display in the Chinese Garden. This year's display was of the celebration of the Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival occurred last February. These photos were taken nearly a month ago, but the real work, the processing, printing and presentation work, occupied the better part of this week.

The first photo is of the preparation of the food and table for the Reunion Dinner.

Family travels from all over to celebrate the New Year together. The Spring Festival begins on New Year's Day. The Reunion Dinner is on New Year's Eve.

The lantern on the table is red. In the Chinese culture, red corresponds with fire and symbolizes fortune and good joy.

The woman is wearing both red and yellow, which are often paired together. Yellow corresponds with the earth and is considered the most beautiful and prestigious colour.
