Bucovina - celebrating Bucovina day

For me, the Romanian Bucovina and, of course, Yorkshire are the two most wonderful places on earth; it's not just about physical beauty, it's about the people and spirituality. I was born in Yorkshire but, I say, another persona was born in Bucovina a little more than 20 years ago, though it's more than a mask. Today, I am, I think, the amalgamation of the two personae.
On 28 November 1918 the Bucovina joined with the then 'Kingdom of Romania', preceded a little earlier by Basarabia (what we now know as the Moldovan Republic) and a little later by Transylvania, to become Romania. At the time of WW2 the northern Bucovina became part of the Ukraine and the area on the eastern side of the river Prut became the Moldovan Republic, a situation which exists today.
Earlier this year the Romanian parliament declared 28 November to be 'Bucovina Day' and today is the first time it has been celebrated. So, in a small way we are celebrating with them.
We have donned our Bucovinian 'ie' (blouses) and the blip shows us with the basket of decorated eggs for which the Bucovina is famous - to be found in many houses there and in ours.
We will listen to traditional Romanian music from the Bucovina and watch videos of the wonderful dancing, with the dancers wearing costumes specific to their region or even to their village.
Trăiască Bucovina!
The extra shows Petronela some time ago in the house of a friend, and egg decorator, Violeta in the village of Paltin, wearing the costume specific to that beautiful village. I wanted to add some pix taken this summer in Paltin and other places in Bucovina but, one of those irritating blipfoto glitches, it won't let me do it.
