The second half of life..

Community relations

Every year for the past quite-a-few the chap whose house and heli-pad is attached to the back of the school field offers free rides to some 20-odd students and a handful of staff.  I was fortunate to have a ride a few years ago and it really was quite spectacular.

Students are selected randomly from those who have attained 100% in our Junior Graduation scheme.  It's a kind of reward to the lucky few for working hard all year and always doing their best.  The rides are offered by the owner as a thankyou gesture for the school's tolerance when he flies his 'copter in and out.  It can be pretty noisy but, to be fair, he doesn't seem to do it all that often during school hours.  Still, it's a great way to foster positive community relationships.

As soon as I heard the noise from my back door I knew this year's rides had begun........and so they continued back and forth for for some 2 hours.  A lovely gesture, a real win-win deal and no doubt, a whole bunch of excitement way up there!
