Maldon

Beautiful Maldon, a great view of the estuary at low tide. Extra blip today of Brent, the bruised tugboat sited at the quay and awaiting funding for restoration.

There's much to commend Maldon, it's a fine place. Apparently, All Saints Church has the only triangular church tower in Britain. The late-Norman design is topped with a hexagonal spire. Various suggestions have been made to explain the triangular form: the need to fit in with the adjoining roadways; a French influence; that it's a symbolic reflection of the Trinity. Or maybe it seemed like a good idea in the pub opposite.
