Another night blip! Also taken with the Sony, and no gorillapod this time.

This season, for the first time ever, we were organised enough to take out a subscription to the theatre in Narbonne (if you don't, you rarely get to see any shows as they are mostly sold out in advance). This evening was Imágenes, a flamenco show by the award-winning Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía.

We are both slightly ambivalent about flamenco -- it can be brilliant, but a little cante jondo goes a long way. The show was five pieces of about 15 minutes each, performed by various combinations of twelve dancers, two singers, and two guitarists. We're not used to being in such a large venue -- row U! -- but actually being so far away had the advantage that you could truly appreciate the shapes and patterns made by the dancers as they moved. The first piece was very geometric; others ranged from dreamy white dresses, lanterns, and a projected moon to a rowdy party with each dancer taking his/her turn. They were amazing dancers -- precision, grace, and power. And the frocks were nice. As we left, S said "Well, that's our dose of flamenco for the next five years," so I take it he's not in a hurry to see another show :) Bit different from Saturday's entertainment.
