The Look of Accomplishment

Here is our young friend, Kyle, seconds after completing his senior solo recital comprised of over 90 minutes of sparkling performance. His two incredible accompanists (yes, it took two pianists, one for each half of the recital) are beaming behind him. I think his expression captures the sense of relief, amazement, exhaustion, and "I did it!!" that must have washed over him as he played his last note.

My friend Joan and I have known Kyle since he was a wee lad and the three of us had back to back lessons with our cello teacher, Pall. Tonight, his family and friends, along with former and present teachers came together to hear the beautiful culmination of all his hard work. With his sweet demeanor and musical passion, the future looks very exciting indeed.

On Kyle's program tonight:
• Malinconia for Cello and Piano, Op. 20 - Sibelius
• Sonata No. 2 in D Maj - Bach
• Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 - Dvorak (by heart!!)
