After blood tests...

...I was told today that I have high end type type 2 diabetes.

I now have different appointments for foot specialist, another eye specialist, and a one to one session with a dietitian ( even though my diet appears to be good). And more appointments too.

And all these leaflets to read. And more stuff I was told. I was with the nurse an hour. She was very concerned about acute kidney injury cos of the meds I was taking for my arthritis, fibromyalgia, blood pressure and more. It turns out that a couple of my meds I should not take when I am ill or feverish or got diarrhoea because they can cause acute kidney injury. I have to stop taking them until I am better. I had no idea of this before. And there is no warning on the packet leaflets about this.

Apparently this was found out because people in care homes were having kidney failure because the staff were still giving them their meds even though they were ill and had diarrhoea etc ...the staff didn't know not to give the meds when the elderly were ill. Makes you think how much we do not know.

Anyway, I met some friends for a coffee in the pub later today and told them. They all had diabetes! I didn't know.

The nurse said I needed a couple of meds. She is only giving me one to start off because often people have an upset tummy with it. Then I have to increase the dosage. And we shall see where we go from there.

I was supposed to go for a Christmas dinner, which I have paid for in full, tomorrow. Looks like I might not make it if I don't feel good. Oh well.

See what tomorrow brings.

Make the most of today!
