Garden at the Frick Collection

The Frick is one of the true jewels of the New York art world. It houses the superb collection of the industrialist, Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919), in his former mansion. This is a view from inside of the small garden on East 70th Street. Over a year ago the Trustees proposed an expansion which would have done away with the garden, and there was a general outcry of protest; I believe the idea has now been dropped.

We visited to see an excellent exhibition entitled "Andrea del Sarto: The Renaissance Workshop in Action," consisting mainly of drawings, which were a crucial element in the artist's preparation of his paintings.
