Mont St. Michel

We visited Mont St. Michel many years ago and remember parking just off the causeway and walking a short distance into the village. All change now with parking about a mile away and a "Park and Ride" system in operation. The village is still primarily geared to tourists--apparently over 3 million people come here every year-- so it's not surprising that there are various major works and developments going on. All that said the visit to the Abbey at the top of the mount is a wonderful experience and one can only marvel at how it was built. This blip is taken from the new dam designed to control the water around the island and protect it.
