Arromanches

On our way to Caen to catch the ferry home we stopped for lunch in Arromanches. The beaches around here were central to the D-day landings and lots of parties of school pupils were visiting. It is important that they are reminded of and remember the events which took place in June 1944. Today's blip is the memorial to the Royal Engineers or "Sappers" who were involved in the construction of the artificial harbour for the craft supporting the landings.
