The Homeopathic Hospital

This hospital in Tunbridge Wells opened in 1902 and ceased offering homeopathic treatment in 2009 following what some locals called a vitriolic campaign against homeopathic medicine.  When my sons were very small in the early 90s,  homeopathic medicine was very fashionable in the area of SE London that I was living in at the time.  I have no idea if this is typical of the country as a whole.   It was the same time as the MMR scare when some parents were sure that the MMR vaccine had caused autism in their children.   Some might say the homeopathic profession played on this worry, offering a “safe” way to protect your children.
I did use homeopathic remedies then although in hindsight I am very sceptical of the successes and regard it as a complete waste of money.  It is impossible to do a scientific study because you cannot compare with and without treatment and you do not know whether you /you child would have got better without the homeopathic remedies.   I seem to recall Prince Charles was a supporter which only enhanced his reputation as a bit of an odd ball out of touch with reality.
I have always wondered whether this hospital had wards of beds of ill people taking small white pills.   The local NHS records department say that all records more than 8 years old are routinely destroyed which is a bit of a shame in this case because they would surely be of historic interest.
