Celtic Flag

I was at Cairnbaan on the Crinan Canal at lunchtime during a day of meetings in Lochgilphead.

I have seen this flag flying from boats on a couple of occasions  over the past year and was keen to picture it and then find out a bit more about it.

It has been around for a decade or more and includes the flags of six Celtic Nations - Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany and the Isle of Man.  In the centre is a "triskell", or "triskelion"  an ancient solar symbol common to Brittany and the Isle of Man which represents the cycles of the universe and of life.  In the early Christian era it became associated with the Trinity.
