Asquith Van

Went off to the area just south of Beauly following the river. I was aiming to see some of the construction works on the new Beauly - Denny power line. The "superpylons" certainly are big and in places the path cuts a swathe through the forests. There's a huge SSE (the old Scottish & Southern Electricity) switching centre near Wester Balblair just off the A831. Took a quick detour over the nearby bridge and noticed salmon jumping in the river below the Kilmorack Dam. There is a fish pass/lift on the Aigas Dam a little higher up the river but today it was closed to visitors. This old Asquith van caught my eye parked outside an art gallery. But I strongly suspect this might be a replica although the interior looks pretty pukka to an untrained eye. Apparently some are being made for advertising purposes and this side view gives the game away. Still it succeeded in it's purpose in causing me to stop. The gallery isn't much bottle - Mrs P regards it as a coffee shop with a few overpriced pictures. But upstairs is an excellent photographic shop.
