i plant these shallots in the spring and have to be so patient while they grow (slowly and not terribly well this year), then wilt over til they are ready for picking - and still it'll be another few days til they are ready to be pickled, and weeks more til i can eat them! still, so satisfying to be able to eat your own produce :-)
