The Swan and Maidenhead

I've blipped Shakespeare's Birthplace on Henley Street quite a few times, but mainly from the outside.  Today we actually went into the house, primarily because they were offering free entry to local residents.  It's a year or so since we've been in and they have improved the visitor centre to include art works and artefacts and a very interesting audio/visual presentation.

The house itself has quite small rooms and must get very crowded in the peak of the tourist season.  In one of the upstairs rooms they have this old pub sign.  After Shakespeare's father's death William leased off part of the building and it became an inn which remained there until 1847.  The inset is a picture I found on the web of the building when it was a pub.
