More Ghengis

Day 6 in Mongolia and it's been a balmy minus 17C for most of the week (I was told it had been down to minus 35C the previous week).  This is the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue, a 40-metre tall statue erected on the bank of the Tuul River some 54 km east of the Ulaanbaatar.  According to legend, this is where he found a golden whip which is, locally, a good omen. The rest is of course history.  The extra blips add some visual context and this NY Times report explains more.
