Patterns and Prints --

-- an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum, subtitled "Textile Patterns and the Print Revolution, 1520-1620". This is the courtyard of the Lehman Wing*, where the show is hung--two large screens hint at the patterns on display.  The head title of the show is "Fashion and Virtue", and it also includes some women's clothing with representative patterns (up to the current era). For me the early examples of fabrics and patterns (mostly in pattern books used by designers) were the most interesting objects; a sampling begins here

It was a relatively brief visit; otherwise I sampled a few galleries in the Asian Wing (visiting at this rate I might get through the entire museum in a year :)

*The Lehman wing has a glass roof, so the courtyard is bright during the day--I took this shot at 5 pm--hence the dim lighting.
