Like yesterday’s legend about the Poinsettia today’s legend about the Christmas Rose also involves a poor girl who had no gift to give the baby Christ Child.
One cold wintry night as a little shepherd girl Madelon was looking after her sheep she wished that she could take a gift to the baby Jesus like the older shepherds had done.  When she saw three Magi passing by she decided to follow them and watched them giving their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Tears started to fall as she realised that she had nothing to give. An angel took pity on her and caused the snow at her feet to melt and revealed a beautiful white flower with petals tinged with pink where her tears had fallen.  Picking the flower she stepped into the stable and gave the Christmas Rose to the baby.
