'Tis The Season

It is somewhat difficult to get into the holiday spirit when living near the beach. People decorate, but there is less than festive viewing lights and Christmas trees in shorts and flip flops rather than boots and coats. When visiting Pátzcuaro, however, boots and coats are mandatory and the town is alive with holiday spirit. We took our son and his wife for a quick overnight trip to this beautiful inland city so they could see more authentic Mexico instead of the tourist Mexico we have in Zihuatanejo. With buildings from the 1500's and temperatures that dip into the teens, Pátzcuaro is a world apart from the beaches they know so well. My wife and I also decided that it definitely puts one in the mood for the Christmas & New Year holidays, reflected in this lighted display on a building fronting the Plaza Grande.
