Unseasonal

The mild and windy weather continues, and in a brief bright spell I wandered round the garden and counted how many species were in flower. My total was thirty-six including a number of very precocious spring flowers including snowdrops, winter aconite, primrose, cowslip, grape hyacinth, early dog-violet and this Mediterranean spurge, which has self-seeded quite freely in our garden.

We're about as ready for Christmas as we're going to be - most presents wrapped and all the necessary food. I'm not sure whether it's just the weather, but I've really struggled to feel festive this year. However, this evening we all sat down to a festive meal of  haunch of venison with port and damson sauce followed by chocolate Cambridge creams, and suddenly the Christmas spirit was there. Just hope it lasts...

Hope all blippers have a truly joyous festive season. x
