Christmas Day

Happy Christmas to everyone, I hope you had the gift of sharing today with love ones. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve last night which included a very long Face Time call with my family in South Africa, and it was lovely to see them and catch up on their news. We then spent the evening playing games, first Whist which was followed by many rounds of Articulate. Thomas had us in stitches describing words in Articulate - some memorable ones were 'the opposite of after foot' when describing 'beforehand' and 'like yeah, man' for Yeman.

We woke up to a beautiful sunny day which did not feel like winter in the Alps. My extra photo is  shot of the golf course which is usually closed from October until the spring, but today one could have played golf there. There were families walking there today enjoying the sunshine.

We opened presents this morning and Santa was very kind to us. After a breakfast of scrambled eggs and Salmon, Gavin and I set about making the Christmas lunch. A few challenges in that it was a new and unfamiliar kitchen, but we managed roast stuffed shoulder of lamb (from Waitrose), stuffed turkey crown (again, from Waitrose), roast sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli and cheese sauce, pumpkin, stuffing and if that was not enough we had frozen berries and white chocolate sauce for pudding. We did well to get that all ready in time so that we could play charades until the Queen's speech began on TV. Charades had us in fits of giggles again, Thomas is quite random and funny and guessing his movie/book was quite a challenge at times.

And so the sun sets on another Christmas, all that fuss and preparation is over until next year. I leave you with a view of the village at night, and hope that you have all had a wonderful day.
