Great Expectations

Miss A's belated birthday present rolled into town today - the Peppa Pig Treasure Hunt. There was great excitement from the moment she opened her eyes and we talked about what Miss A would say if she got to speak to Peppa Pig. I'd say 'I love you, Peppa'. We also talked about which of Peppa's friends might be there. I want Rebecca Rabbit and Freddy Fox to be there.

So that was that, and off we went. We dropped Little D at a friend's house and made our way to the Festival Theatre - Miss A's first time there. There was an explosion of children, which we fought our way through to get to our seats. It was a short row of 7 seats and bizarrely we shared it with one of the girls I did yoga with when I was pregnant with Miss A. We settled in for an hour of torture pleasure and I managed to snap this before the lights went down - Miss A staring expectantly at the stage.

As a first experience of these things, the show was actually ok and Miss A was wiggling in her seat and shouting in all the right places (with a gentle nudge). She was delighted all through the show then, 5 minutes before the end, she asked where Rebecca Rabbit was. I said she must've been sick so couldn't make it today. That was just not good enough and the tears began. That Peppa wasn't there to have a chat with afterwards brought yet more tears. So much for a fun day out - there's just no pleasing kids nowadays!

So, now we're off to Little D's parent's evening and hoping for a glowing report card - despite his appetite for other children. More great expectations...
