Barrelled

Today's big event (at least for me and L) was a trip around the Tio Pepe sherry bodega, along with the associated tasting at the end.

It was quite interesting, and certainly the sherry itself at the end was quite a revelation to me. I've been avoiding sherry for decades as it has a certain redolence of the 1970s, but drinking it "spanish" style seems an altogether different experience.

We'd been warned that the tapas they serve with the tastings were not worth the money, so we went for the neat alcohol. Big mistake. By the time we left, we were a bit light headed and desperate for some lunch, but there was no space in any of the tapas bars we'd been recommended to be had at that time (2.30pm - i.e. peak lunchtime). We ended up with some slightly substandard food at a place in the main square, followed by a further outdoor drink on the way back to the apartment in a much nicer place. We've avoided the possibility of failure this evening by booking a table at one of the places that our hosts recommended to us.

A quiet late afternoon as various books are read, iplayer videos watched, and photographs processed.
