Last day in Jerez

Last full day in Jerez, enjoying the apartment, etc.

An early start to drive over to Sanlucar - another point on the sherry triangle. Early impressions of the town were not that positive, but after a coffee in one of the squares, our little party split in two and L and I headed up to the Castilo de Santiago. The best 7 euros we've spent for stupendous views from the top of the castle keep over Sanlucar and the sea. Meanwhile Mr A concentrated on getting some time lapse photos, and soaking up the sun. Having thought that perhaps today was not going to be good weather-wise it was in the end splendid.

Lunch was taken in a little Bodegas courtyard (La Cigarrera) recommended by a friend of a friend - traditional tapa, very tasty, very atmospheric.

After lunch, we drove round the coast to Cadiz and over the very impressive bridge (no pictures from me as I was driving! - and ignore the wiki entry, it opened in September 2015) into the city. Having worried about car parking, in the end we found an underground car park with plenty of space which was reasonably priced. We wandered through the park to a cafe (Quilla) that L had sussed out from the guidebook, in full sun, and right above a beach. A suitable ending to our outing, placing Cadiz firmly on the bucket list for an early visit.

I could get used to this winter sun lark.

Home now, and just about to go out for dinner. I hope it matches up to yesterday's (Reino de Leon) which was excellent. So many reviews to write when we get home.

We've really enjoyed this mini "holiday within a holiday". Tomorrow all change again.
