Heat wave!!

A day of soaring temperatures here in North Canterbury, NZ. Today we reached 38C, just way to hot to enjoy, the poor petals of my osteospermum are curling under the heat.

It's nearly Christmas, mum and I visited R today as he'll be unable to be with us this year. It was hard but really he wasn't worried about Christmas, it was going to be just another day for him which was entirely within his comfort zone. He's very settled, bright and cheerful, always delighted to see us and tells us he has many friends, his room is nice, the staff are lovely and the food is good! We left feeling happy that he was settled and contented - it was a good visit.

I just have to note today's temperatures round the area in which I live:
Ohoka             41C
Rangiora        38C
Oxford            39C
The highest ever recorded temperature in New Zealand was 42.4C in Rangiora in 1973.

It was indeed a heat wave and more is predicted for the holidays ahead - summer is here!
