Bay Watch

Another wild and woolly night and the rip in the polytunnel is getting bigger. However the Norwegian forecasters (yr.no) assured us that there was going to be full sunshine in between the torrential hail and gale force winds! Ever the optimists, we donned weatherproof gear and headed out for a bit of a blow at Barley Cove. The bouncy pontoon that goes across the river to the beach had either been blown away (it happens most years) or had been dismantled due to bad weather.  We had to find another way across and went down via the hotel. It was wild! The waves were colossal and the reflections shimmery and metallic. A surprising amount of people and dogs were larking about.

Suitably braced we went on to O Sullivans pub at Crookhaven for chowder (himself) and toasties me and son#1). It was heaving and we sat watching the swathes of weather pass over. Excellent timing.
I've gone for a close up of the reflections on the sand as they were looking suitably abstract for AT27 (thank you youoregon1) and have added a few others in the extras.

It's also our anniversary - quite a big number, lace apparently! Son#1 has done the official shot (see extras). We were channelling our inner Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff (obviously).

And don't forget to join in the special New year's Day blip - info here. I bet some folks downunder have already participated.

Wishing you all an enjoyable evening- I shall be cracking open a bottle of artisan Irish cider shortly!! The other two don't drink! Here's to a stupendous 2016 - may it be peaceful, tolerant, inspiring, creative, kind, generous ...... We can but hope.
