Happy New Year!

2016 is upon us and it might be the year that Blip disappears.

For more than five years posting a blip has been part of my daily routine. I've been here through the grey-background, the near bump and bail-out by Polaroid. I've blipped trains and birds and pubs and people and beaches and food and cups of tea and ironing and lambs and cattle and seascapes and boats and stuff; lots of stuff. I've written countless words of drivel. Sometimes the words were looking for an image and sometimes the image summoned the words and often they were unrelated. I've documented some stuff explicitly and other stuff is simply there for me. There are some big life events in amongst the minutiae, happy and sad memories in a digital diary.

However, we now face an extinction-level threat; Blip might soon cease to be. For it to continue the plan is a buy-out led by a group of blippers and for Blipfoto to become a Community Interest Company (CIC). In order for this to happen BlipFuture is raising money by offering shares in the CIC and by accepting donations. Visit that site for details of how it's planned to work, to see the state of play with pledges and - if you feel able - to pledge some brass. Let's see whether we can make 2016 the year that the blip community secured its own future.
