Christmas coffee

Rory and Mum had already scoffed their first lunch when I met them in town. Rory attempted a second lunch – the sandwich had him beaten, but he managed the cake. That's a particular trait of our family. We can always manage cake, and (in my case) tea.

I went back to Cradlehall to see Dad, then boomeranged back to town for a scrummy curry cooked by Fred at his Dad's house. We headed over the river (which seemed far too close to the suspension bridge) to Eden Court to see Bridge of Spies, which was cold, stark and superbly acted by Mark Rylance and Tom Hanks. The Berlin Wall/back-to-US comparison was poignant.
