Rangitoto

Our New Years Day Walk was from Sayegh Street to Achilles Point in St Heliers Bay. It had started raining during the night and it was touch and go whether we would get out - a drive up One Tree Hill was another option - but we had a wonderful walk. It was much needed after our long lie following a picnic, a ceilidh and the midnight fireworks from the top of The Sky Tower which we watched from a park in the centre of Auckland.
Across the Bay Rangitoto lurked quietly dark and mysterious. It is hard to believe that it is the top of a volcano which it is predicted will not lie dormant forever...
