Pohutu Geyser

Te Puia, at Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley in Rotorua.
The largest geyser in the Southern Hemisphere we are told. And why would we doubt it? Just another incredible sight in an unusual part of the world. The geothermal activity is literally just below your feet and in the air around you. You get used to the smell after a while but the heat is more difficult to cope with. Regular "Long Blacks" don't really replace the lost fluids and the local IPA is not a good idea when dehydrated. We did get a chance to rehydrate later with our Thai curry whilst in the aptly named "Eat Street".
