Not a dolls' house...!

This may look a bit like a dolls' house, but in fact it's the full-size frontage of the Arighi Bianchi furniture store in Macclesfield, Cheshire. The business was founded by 2 Italian immigrants in 1854. The Grade II listed building shown here (opened in 1892) has a cast-iron and glass frontage which was inspired by Paxton's Crystal Palace of 1851. The store remains a family business (now in the 4th generation) and one often sees members of the family in the store.

We drove to Macclesfield today to bring my Mum-in-Law back home after her stay with us over Christmas. We'll be here for a couple of nights to do a few little jobs for her.

Best viewed large (the picture that is, not Mum-in-Law!!! Lol! ).
