Busy London

The London skyline seen from Waterloo Bridge while waiting for the 68 bus.

The Caledonian Sleeper set us down in Euston bang on time. We shed layers of clothing on our walk to St Pancras – it's so warm here for this time of year. Miraculously, the Thameslink train to Tulse Hill was running (no engineering works – yay!) and a very kind lady helped me with my bag from the Tulse Hill platform to ground level. What a lovely welcome home.

The guinea pigs had behaved themselves according to our pet sitter's missive. He didn't mention any visiting cats, so they must have stayed away. Mooncat appeared a little later for a game of string – it was nice to see him.

After unpacking, we headed back into the city via London Bridge. It must be prime visiting time for tourists for Borough Market, Southbank and Covent Garden were packed with visitors. I clocked one of the peregrine falcons perched on the Tate Modern tower and getting a little battered by the wind (see extra pic for a mass of feathers). Stanfords travel bookshop was the scene of scone scoffing, book spotting (one of mine, just published: On the Space Station), and large map printing (they can print a specific area at a certain size on request – Fred's now the owner of a bespoke print of Sussex and Kent).
